hmmm my asian studies 214 lecture.... what can i say abt it?! well interesting wld be the word.. and i wld say that it's seemingly easy.. altho i'm quite sure any unit that romito sensei takes wld hardly be easy...

anyways, today he showed us a n episode and half abt this korean/japanese drama collaboration (i dunno when exactly was this produced.. but it shd be w/in 1999 to 2001) that led up to the korea/japan soccer world cup in 2002... it's entitled friends. some of u may find it familiar cos it was shown on TCS 8 (yes it is!!).... it starred one of the top actors of korea, won bin, who is famed for his boyish good looks (he is good looking yah.. altho i heard he like picks his nose in public.. haha don't ask me how i know.. it's just those tibits of info that u seem to have floating ard in ur grey matter.. that cld have been otherwise used wisely.. but it's a major turn off... not saying that u can't clean ur nose but don't do it in public lah.. IT'S AS BAD AS GETTING RID OF UR WEDGGIE IN PUBLIC AND HEARING THE SNAP OF UR UNDIES AGAINST UR BUTT LAH!! *YUCKS*) and also one of the more popular jap acteress, kyoko fukada, who is known for her sweetie pie image as well as roles... hahah (altho for the life of me i don't see why my fren used to be so mad abt her.... i don't really think she's chio or anything.. but she acts cute a lot.. so i guess that's why guys are smitten over her...)

having watched the show before i cld have like went on home but i decided to like stay and relive kyoko fukada's bad acting and the unreal, modelled kisses that they share... it's so posed!! my gosh... but also cos won bin was a big persuasive factor loh.. hahah! anyways i guess when u see it for the second time in a academic context, u tend to see this whole collaboration thingy in another light. given japan and korea's history, the collaboration was a major step in bridging a grand canyon like gap. given the whole new millenium and all, and that past hurts and old ghosts shd be put to rest, this marked a new beginning for japan and korea relations i suppose. also it demostrates to us how comsuption is such a huge part of our lives and the whole commodified 'asian cool' packaging cld be seen in like tv shows, movies etc. this collaboration also serve to reach out to a greater diversity of consummers esp women, since there is an increasing trend of younger, financially independent women 'comsuming' asia.

anyways, it was quite delightful to be watching it with the aussies and some asians..... cos some of them are from my jap class.. so it was kinda like to share that kinda moment with them.. it feels good.. it's as if.. here we are learning jap and then watching a jap drama together.. and it was slightly surprising to see the aussies enjoying the show and laughing at the asian humor in the show.. (altho i suspect that it was cos of the stupidity of it that they were laughing at...)

however, this delightful experience was marred by the sudden occurance of *HORRORS* CRAMPS!!! argh!! how painful!!! my goodness only my girlfriends can identify with me sia.. i mean woohoo!! pain is arousing but it was hardly arousing when it came in the middle of a screening and while i was seated in an uncomfy chair!! hahaha fwah... so damm pain sia i tell u!! (okie i shd not just tell u.. u guys shd like experience it for urself sia...) anyways, had trouble walking back home cos of the pain and to top it all off, i was walking so ta ma de slow in the cold, with wind blowing at me sia.. i mean ultimate liao... in pain and in the cold.. haiz...

slept almost the whole afternoon away sia... can't take it. luckily felt slightly better towards the night.. and ja was such a kind soul to help me buy food back. hahah thanx dearie... i shall go get some work done now.. and hit the sack early.... nights world... and to mother nature... why can't guys suffer menstral cramps too? *pouts* but then again... they can suffer from blue balls so yah i guess it evens out yah? mommy nature... hee!! i'm going mad!!!
